Averill Creek Joue Rosé
Details
Averill Creek was founded with their first vines planted in 2001, by former MD and wine educator Andy Johnston. Andy's passion for winemaking led him from Edmonton to vineyards around the world, before establishing Averill Creek Vineyard in the Somenos region of Cowichan Valley.
A powerful and intense blend that’s not for the faint of heart. Full of bright fruit that’s delicately balanced with a dried flower savouriness. The red fruit is hand-picked and loaded directly into the press, where it is then transferred into an open-top fermenter via a champagne cycle, followed by Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, which are loaded on top. It's a red ferment, but the juice is red and the cap is white berries. It is pinched down once or twice a day, then pressed off. The end result is a wine that defies convention; it's like an orange wine, white wine, and red wine all in the same glass. Unfined, unfiltered with no additions.
This wine is wild. We love it.
Region: Cowichan Valley, British Columbia
Grapes: Pinot Noir + Pinot Gris + Marechal Foch + Gewürztraminer
Tasting Notes:
