đ·đ„The Wonderful World of Wine! with Sommelier Kat Nymanđ - Wednesday, July 22nd, 6PM-9PM
Details
Are you ready to embark on a unique journey through the captivating world of small-scale and family-owned wineries? Join us for an exclusive wine workshop series led by the renowned sommelier Kat Nyman.
Kat has been working in the wine industry for 14 consecutive years (thatâs starting before she was legal to drink in Ontario, whoops). Her passion for wine stems from her fascination with people, time, and placeâŠand rocks.Â
Blending her formal wine education (WSET 3) and her lived experience working in vineyards and making wine around the world, she loves to demystify, myth-bust and challenge drinkersâ perceptions of what wine can and should be.Â
She currently works in Ottawa as The Living Vineâs (est.2005 - ONâs first and largest importer dedicated to organic/biodynamic and natural wine) eastern ON sales rep and as a sommelier at some of the cityâs favourite places to imbibe.
What to Expect:
Our Wonderful World of Wine workshops will offer a bespoke evening of learning more in-depth and esoteric knowledge of the wine world, and rarer and more intricate wines and wine styles from across the globe.Â
Who should choose a wine workshop you ask?? If any answers to the following questions are yes, then welcome!
Are you excited and geeky about the world of wine?
Did you want to explore regions that you rarely see at the LCBO?
Did you want to deep-dive into producers, narrative, and (sometimes) politics of the world of wine? (aka get the whole story!)
Did you want to feel even more confident in your wine skills?
Would you like to explore wines of exceptional style and technique?
We can't wait to host you!
Key Highlights:
- Exploration of Wine Styles and Regions: Embark on a journey through local and international modern wines. From discussing the terroir theory to each area's unique climate, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how geography and style influence every wine produced, helping you choose what is best for you!
All with glass in hand.
- Tasting Techniques: Discover the art of wine tasting as Aryn demonstrates how to evaluate wines using all your senses. The importance of glassware, storage, identifying flaws, and the top tips to make you a bona fide tasting pro. Learn to identify aromas, flavours, and appreciate the subtleties that make each wine a distinct experience.
- Food Pairing: Aryn will share her expertise on the delicate art of pairing wine with food. You'll have the opportunity to savour delicious wine and discuss food pairings that exemplify the harmony between the two. Charcuterie that complements the wine is provided.
- Wine Etiquette: Gain insight into the world of wine etiquette and enhance your confidence when ordering wine in a restaurant or hosting a wine-tasting event.
- Q&A Session: Aryn will be available for a Q&A session, allowing you to ask all your burning questions about wine, from the best wines for your palate to tips for building a diverse wine collection.
